Civil Society provokes thinking about issues affecting nonprofit effectiveness and success.
An initiative of the Center for Nonprofit Studies at Austin Community College, the 15-20 minute video-casts address critical issues: Diversity and Inclusion (What does it feel like to be the only person of color on a board?), Being Muslim in America, Teaching Children How to Think, Not What to Think, Changing Lives One at a Time, Actualizing Community Well Being, Political Strategy for Nonprofits and Philanthropy, Consequences of Unequal Digital Access, and Public Television Role in Fostering Civility.
To be released soon: Empowering YouthUnemployment Possibilities, and Ending Sexual Harassment. Upcoming episodes include: Transforming A City Neighborhood, Youth in Prison, Using Music to Heal, Social Entrepreneurship, The State of Human Services: A United Way Perspective, and Central Texas Philanthropy.
Moderated by Barry Silverberg, Center Director, and coordinated by Lisa Bussett, Center Coordinator, Civil Society features individuals making a difference. They share their motivations and discuss critical issues facing our society. Information and resources on each topic is provided online.
Also online are seven Civil Society television programs, with panelists discussing Sex Trafficking in Central Texas, Diversity and Equity in Central Texas.
