Civil Mafia’s CEO & Founder Flor Palazzolo took part in a panel on female entrepreneurship and the joint signing of the Americas Equity Pact in Puerto Rico, at the globally significant event advocating for women's empowerment and the development of women in business.
(Miami - Dec 8, 2023) – Civil Mafia, an AdTech, Digital Media, and Digital Enablement & Acceleration agency, was called upon to be the Official Marketing and Advertising Agency for the 2023 Women Economic Forum of the Caribbean. Flor Palazzolo, its CEO and founder known for her expertise in business development, media, and technology, was invited to speak on a panel about her journey as a female entrepreneur and her innovative approach to the relationship between business and social responsibility.
The Women Economic Forum (WEF) of the Caribbean, an international event gathering initiatives for the empowerment and promotion of women in business, returned with its 3rd edition from November 13 to 17 in Puerto Rico under the theme "Empowertech," highlighting the transformative power of technology to address present and future challenges. The Global Forum welcomed around 400 attendees from the Caribbean and other regions worldwide, fostering high-level discussions, conferences, and expert panels for the exchange of relevant ideas, knowledge, and experiences.
Endorsed by UN Women, the event serves as a unique platform to foster strategic alliances, establish valuable connections, and promote active participation of women in the business and technology sectors. The conferences targeted women, youth, foundations, NGOs, influencers, leaders, media, and government institutions. Key guests included Liza García, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Government of Puerto Rico; María Fernanda Espinosa, Former President of the UN General Assembly; and Estefanía Soto, Development Supervisor of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, among others.
During the panel "Female Entrepreneurship: Driving Smart Businesses for Societies of the Future," Palazzolo delved into her life and professional journey that led her to become part of a paradigm shift by creating a project that would bring equal opportunities to others while remaining profitable. She emphasized the potential ways to reconcile these two seemingly antagonistic universes and the need to work on oneself and overcome self-imposed barriers to carve a path as female entrepreneurs and active change-makers.
"As a sales and business development specialist, my 'superpower' is making money or helping others make money. By founding Civil Mafia, I wanted to use that power to show the world that profit generation is compatible with using our time and effort to collaborate with others and have a positive impact on the environment," emphasized Palazzolo. With the motto "TO DO BUSINESS & TO DO GOOD," she proposes a paradigm shift based on a sustainable business model that not only meets its commercial objectives but also enables a circular development of benefits where a percentage of the profit resulting from a client can contribute to the empowerment and development of non-profit organizations or entrepreneurs.

Palazzolo also played a key role in the WEF by participating in the signing of the Americas Equity Pact, a joint commitment to promote women's empowerment and gender equity in the region. A group of influential women and leaders in different fields signed the pact on November 14th at the Puerto Rico House of Representatives to call for actions, plans, and social transformation projects aimed at achieving gender equity.
According to Palazzolo, "a work agenda was established, addressing the specific challenges faced by women in the region, such as gender wage gaps, access to resources, inclusion and equity, gender violence, among others." The agreement is based on referential models of social, political, economic, and academic leadership that seek to improve the living conditions of women in the Americas, Puerto Rico, and the United States. The pact is part of regional technical cooperation, information exchange, and multilateral support, taking into account sustainable development goals.
On a global level, the WEF provides an opportunity for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration among people from different countries and cultures. It brings together governments, academic scientists, women leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals from different sectors to strengthen their presence and contribution to society and the economy. WEF Caribbean 2023 aimed to generate opportunities, business strategies, and the marketing of products and services, prioritizing discussions around technology as a powerful tool to amplify women’s voices and opportunities.
