City of Plano brings home prestigious D CEO Magazine Excellence in Healthcare Award

In September, Human Resources was notified that Plano was selected as a finalist for a D CEO 2023 Excellence in Healthcare Award. Winners were announced in late November and the City of Plano secured the Achievement in Wellness Programs?honor.?

Now in its 10th year, this program recognizes the top healthcare entrepreneurs, practitioners, leaders and systems in North Texas. With a market as big and deep as ours, rising to the top isn’t easy, but Plano did it!

“I'm very pleased that the collaborative work done by staff in HR, Finance, Budget and the City Manager's Office (with the support of our elected officials) is being recognized in this fashion," Deputy City Manager LaShon Ross said. "This acknowledges years of vision and work prioritizing wellness within the scope of broad healthcare management.”

Plano provides wellness benefits to a wide variety of employees, from those who do physical labor outside to those who spend all day in front of computer screens. Our health and wellness initiatives are built around incentivizing preventative care. For example:

The City has cultivated partnerships with healthcare consultants for years, even as the environment around us continues to change and bring new challenges. Research continues to stress the importance of wellness, self-care and individuals being informed consumers of healthcare.?

“Perhaps the more important factor is the manner in which the City prioritizes resources and initiatives that affirm the value of its employees, retirees and their families,” Ross said.
