Are you ready? The fierce battle for the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup titles will be decided in Barcelona (Catalunya, Spain)! On Friday, September 29, the eliminator stars will be racing the fifth and final round on the spectacular, ultra-compact track on Montju?c Hill. Starting like a rocket and cornering like an F1 pilot will be crucial!
Racing on the Pla?a Josep Puig i Cadafalch square – in the shadows of the impressive Palau Nacional – starts at 14:10 with the qualifying time trials. Heats are set to begin at 15:20, while the final heats and the free, worldwide live streaming are taking place from 16:00 until 17:00 local time (CEST). Don’t miss it!
In the men’s category, the battle for the 2023 UCI World Cup title in Barcelona will once again be a duel between the two heroes of our sport: four-time UCI World Champion Titouan Perrin-Ganier from France and last year’s overall UCI World Cup winner Simon Gegenheimer from Germany. There are still 90 points at stake in Barcelona – will that be enough for ‘Mustache Man’ to close a 27-point disadvantage on ‘TPG’?
In the battle for the women’s overall title, Italian Gaia Tormena is defending a big 52-point lead on Marion Fromberger from Germany. Seems like ‘Torpedo Tormena’ will succeed herself and take the 2023 UCI World Cup win – or will we see surprises on Montju?c?
Last Saturday’s final race for our Continental Series in Girona (Catalunya, Spain) was a great test event for this week’s UCI World Cup Grande Finale in Barcelona. Start lists for Girona were full of big names: UCI World Champion Gaia Tormena and Marion Fromberger were the highlights for the women’s race, challenged by strong delegations from Brazil, France, and The Netherlands. In the men’s race, Lorenzo Serres (France), Sondre Rokke (Norway), Theo Hauser (Austria), Nils-Obed Riecker (Germany), Dan Noyola (Mexico) and Kirill Tarassov (Estonia) were some of the riders to watch.
Also last Saturday, our National Series had its annual stop in Tur?ianske Teplice, Slovakia. Defending winner Simon Nemec from the Czech Republic and Attila Gerely from Hungary were the standout performers.
