City listens and responds to resident request for Accessible Pedestrian Signal

When our residents or a business contact us with a concern, we listen and respond.
An executive with a Legacy West business contacted our City Manager with concerns about a visually impaired employee's safety while crossing Headquarters Drive during his walk to work.
We investigated and responded. City staff installed accessible pedestrian signals to the existing traffic signals along Headquarters and intersections with Dallas North Tollway, Windrose Avenue, and Communications Parkway.
All the necessary equipment was already on hand and reallocated from a future planned location to speed up the installation.
This installation will not delay improvements planned to the other location.
The employee who requested the accommodation was very appreciative and commented that the particular intersections are much safer now than they were previously. The business executive was very appreciative that the installation crews acted so quickly.
