Citrix + Me: Changing Times!

I took the rather difficult, but equally exciting decision this week to move from the UK Presales team to a new role as a Domain Specialist, working specifically with Citrix Workspace for our customers in EMEA. This is personally a huge step for me, tinged with excitement, and nervousness in equal measure.
Since joining Citrix, I’ve had an amazing time supporting the UK Public Sector team - If you work in Presales and have never covered Public Sector, you should, it is the best. The customers are wonderful, the stories and use-cases are inspiring. Whilst we’ve all read headlines about how in Local Government, Education and the NHS things have often been described as “tough”, the passion from our customers has often left me humbled.
In my new role, I’ll be enabling customers and partners around all things Citrix Workspace, which we announced the GA of today. In a way, it picks up on some of the reasons I moved to Citrix in the first place. Citrix Workspace is evolving, and we’re going to transform how end users consume enterprise applications.
If there is one thing I’ve learnt over the last couple of years in working with the Public Sector is that our end-users are often consumed with mundane tasks, that in this day and age, should be automated, or streamlined but in reality are simply hard to do. Why can’t the world of enterprise applications be as simple as booking a flight on your phone, or requesting an Uber?
How do enable employees to focus on what is important? How do we remove unnecessary distractions that consume so much time? We’ve all been there, that quick email or approval that when you realise - you’ve lost hours!
Citrix Workspace is evolving to be that central place where you do work. It’s going to change the way we interact with enterprise applications, and enable us to do more of what personally drives us. Through creating a central digital workspace, surfacing the important and relevant tasks, we can reduce complexity and improve employee engagement.
Here’s my example, I once requested a new mobile phone, and had never “receipted” goods before in our ERP system - The frustration of navigating an application I’ve never used led to me sending begging emails, reviewing user documentation, and I was days overdue because of the “everything else I had to do” - it simply wasn’t a priority for me, despite the helpful reminder emails!
So if we can make a process such as good receipting simple and straightforward for all users through a simple to use workflow - the time and work pain we’ll save, will be incredible for our end-users, and in my case Purchasing!
I’ll certainly miss and thank my Citrix UK Public Sector colleagues - I’ve had an amazing journey, and it’ll be one I cherish.
