Citizenship Studies with HMP Leicester

I was really privileged this week to join a class of highly engaged citizenship studies students at Regent College while they listened to Ralph Lubkowski from HMP Leicester. Ralph had offered to become a speaker through Leicestershire Cares Curriculum Link Speakers programme and provided a fantastic insight into the prison system, an overview of the breadth of support offered in the reform system and some useful comparisons to the national prison service. Ralph allowed the students to steer the class and enjoyed the complex questions fired at him. He ended his session with an insight into the skills required to enter the profession and how important interpersonal skills were to succeed. A second session with Public Services students took place in the afternoon.
