The citizen's user Interface, the new challenge

Accessing data is the most important task we perform today.

??We moved from legacy systems to open systems in the 1990s, but accessing data, manipulation, and squeezing them for information was a duty still reserved for data centres and white-coated men.

?A few years later, thanks to the possibilities offered by the personal computer, many of us not only had access to data but were also able to process it ourselves, even though the interface was still an old-fashioned interface emulation like the IBM SNA Logic Unit 6.2, same as a proprietary system with green/amber phosphor monitor.

??But it is with the arrival of the API, initially relegated only to communication standards between machines, and with the new client/server development method that both the information supplied by the user and the output it was to receive began to be redesigned.

??New devices such as Palms, Tablets, Mobile Phones, Kiosks and later monitors with reduced computing capacity begin to appear on the market, which will replace the TV in our living room.

??The software tries to solve the problem of data entry and navigation, T8 or WAP on mobile, for example, but the real idea was to redefine the interface, not for the device itself but for ourselves.

??This was already happening on cars, ATMs, dishwasher or microwave ovens, but Hulu and Netflix led the way on television, and Apple did the same on phones, no side menus in the first scenario and no keyboards in the second.

?? Now, what will happen, what will be the next UI revolution?

???We can divide it according to the type of users, those more dependent on technology still have login phase, password, two-factor authentication, settings and so on, but for ordinary people, the interface will play an increasingly important role. Automatic recognition of habits and identities will unleash a new way of consulting information, this will be the key,

??As happened for mobile users or film buffs, we will focus more on citizens, there are many of them, present everywhere loaded with simple daily needs...
