A Citizens Calls Out the Maskless

Someone wrote to me because they had seen a local meeting, in which I participated in, had some representatives of the community appear without a face covering after they had been kindly requested to do.

Out of many citizens in the community where this happened just one wrote to the Mayor thanking those representatives who had worn masks for wearing them and asking for a response from those who did not.

The question was : I'd like to thank those that do wear masks and ask why all of you do not do likewise?

Here is the response and supplemental information I provided to the questioner :

I deeply appreciate your thanks for wearing my mask.?I normally wouldn’t express that because I feel it is my duty.?I have taken on the habit of always wearing it.?I am uncomfortable in public without one, especially in a small space like the City Council Chambers.?The dais, as you can see, is not very spacious.?Though some accommodations have been made on the dais, like rather large chairs, the actual space itself has not increased.

I am glad for your email because I have been vexed by the practice of those who do not mask up.?The reason for this is that from the very beginning of this terrible plague I have been seeking any tools, equipment, clothing or medical assistance that would ensure that the disease could be kept away from my family, friends, myself and any one of us.?

The other night caused me some concern as I had two coughing associates and one that was moving about freely as if there were nothing going on.

I have come in contact with people that didn’t believe in the plague.?They didn’t believe in Covid.??Some of them are dead.?Others have been sickened.?Many who are aware of it, as you know, have also been sickened and killed by it.

To return to the beginning of all this I recall the first news stories floating around.?I like to get my news from Reuters.com, CNN, FOXNews, APNews and I follow the BBC, NY Times, LA Times, various Noticias papers and other international newspapers, television channels and radio news.?During that time when I was scanning the news for interesting stories it seemed like something was going on like when that SARS virus (of which Covid-19 is some sort of related type) happened and travel was interrupted.

I expected travel to be interrupted.?It was not.?Nothing was being done.?The news became wider and, finally, as you know, suddenly it was a main story because the hospitals were getting filled up and people were dying from this strange disease.

President Trump stepped in and started curtailing flights and I recall he was labeled a racist and other factors showed up that seemed to involve a great deal of money in the background but that was never clear.?Business travel, recreational travel and all the associated hospitality businesses were up in arms.

General businesses, which have been sending people for face-to-face meetings since around 1948 had become so used to doing that they couldn’t seem to grasp the fact that they may be spreading the disease.?Not unlike some of our local residents and millions of people across the nation.

The behavior of those businesses was shocking to me because I hadn’t realized how many were still insisting on direct travel.?For my own example, just for my personal interest, I gather information from around the world at the touch of a button.?I have meetings with people in many places and never need to see them face-to-face except through an online meeting.

Then the other things started to happen – where people were buying food and goods from the markets so the shelves were empty.?Some of the Chief Executive Officers from major grocery firms like Kroger, Meijer and others went to the White House to talk to the President.?He had them on tv when he asked that Americans only buy two weeks worth of goods.?He said they told him there was enough of everything but their supply chains were set up to deliver two weeks of food.

That was weird for me because there was the President of the United States making it clear that the CEO’s of these companies were asking him to ask the American people (he said it just like that) if they would not buy more than two weeks worth of goods.?That alone was weird but it dawned on me that all of them.?Not just one.?They all had a process and system that was so similar they could ask for something like that.?It seemed like some sort of Trust but without the direct connections they had when companies like Standard Oil and American Fruit ran things.?There was no time to be concerned about that, at the time, however, because it was apparent already that something very bad was happening.

Then came revelations from the CDC.?Then came claims there was some work that had been done on viruses in China.?I recall the claims were denied, denied, denied and then admitted. ?Yes, there was something going on in China but it probably didn’t have anything to do with it.

The claims and counterclaims went back and forth.?At one point President Trump declared that a scientist had been working on something and had a grant through the CDC or NIH, I can’t recall which, and that he had cut it off.

That story just kind of went away.?The next day there was some whisper and then the story just – poof! – I didn’t see it any of the news links anymore.

I started looking into it – because – even though many of the same people who don’t believe in Covid, are Anti-Vaxxers or just hate the government of the United States of America fail to realize that this nation is one of the freest on earth.?Also – a few years ago after some court case they dumped, like everything, to paraphrase Norville Rogers, also known as Shaggy in Scooby-Doo, they dumped everything on the internet.

I was able to find the grant that the President was referring to.?It detailed exactly what they were doing.?I will give you the overview of that in a moment, but first, please note that after the grant was terminated by the President it was applied for again almost immediately with a different cover letter and the rest of the information nearly verbatim from the first grant request.?The second grant request was granted.?So – whether or not it was unbeknownst to the President, and it could have been, the money continued to flow for that set of experiments.

Just to return to your original concern about the mask, briefly, I have had very few conversations with anyone about this who would respond in any fashion – very few express shock, interest and, I would suppose belief.?I have no idea where they are getting their information from.?Then again, as this progressed and I followed it I became highly critical of the coverage while others, perhaps, believe whatever they are told without question.?That’s dangerous.

So, to explain the experiments as I understand them from what I gathered :

SARS scared the heck out of some people.?SARS also interested many people.?The scared people didn’t do much.?They didn’t change travel protocols on ships and planes and they, as we can see now, didn’t make any changes to business behavior.?That should have sparked the rush towards remote meetings and the proper use of the telephone again in business but it didn’t.?As for the people who were interested in it they did a lot.?They started studying it.?They made up doomsday scenarios.?They talked about them.?They wanted to study the disease.?They wanted to know about the disease.?

They were making one mistake there.?They didn’t intend on preparing to treat it or prevent it until after they saw it in action.

Then they made another mistake.?They decided to go out and get some other candidates for what SARS did, which was, make an animal sick and then infect a human too.

The guy I am going to focus on was the fellow who filled out the grant application.

He was involved with scientists at several universities in the United States including North Carolina State University.

This fellow went to China and set up shop in Wuhan at a lab affiliated not only with the government of the People’s Republic of China but the Army of the People’s Republic of China.

He set up teams to fan out all over southeast Asia and into the eastern portions near India. The duty of these teams were to travel even farther into the countries to extremely remote locations and look for small mammals of every kind.?They would kill the animals, take some samples, and send everything back, including the animals, to Wuhan where the real study began.?Though they were harvesting any small animal they could find the target animal of these expeditions were located in caves – bats.

At the Wuhan Lab the samples would be scanned and viruses in their saliva were genetically sequenced and studied.?They were looking for the viruses similar to SARS.?They found a whole big bunch of them.?Out these they found many that could make people sick and die.?Out of those many, however, they only found six that would readily transfer or ‘jump’ from animals to humans.

Now back to the running story where the disease is already spreading.

The news and government said that the cause, if you may recall, that allowed this disease to wreak havoc on the world did not arise in the Wuhan Lab but was the result of someone eating at a Wet Market nearby the Wuhan Lab.?It was just coincidence, then, that this one person went to the Wet Market that day (a Wet Market is a large market where you can buy all sorts of meats and things – many of the meats being from wild animals) and bought himself a Bat Sandwich and the rest was history.

Many people I have spoken to about the virus know all about the Wet Market.?They knew what it was and what was sold there.?When did they learn it??I don’t know.?I’d never heard of a Wet Market before I was told that Covid-19 came from one.

Then a scientist said that after looking at the gene sequencing from Covid-19 they not only detected bat DNA but DNA from a pangolin and some they could not identify.?In short, that scientist was suggesting that the virus had been manipulated in the same way that viruses and cells are manipulated in laboratories to make them do things other than they are made to do.

Then there was news about how Covid-19 resembled a virus found in a bat in a cave in Southeast Asia some 2,000 miles away from Wuhan.

Then, conjecture followed that the Peoples Republic of China released it on purpose.?It certainly does have all the hallmarks of a bioweapon.?Small, easy to make, cheap and deadly.

I thought it could have happened if the lab wasn’t up to snuff.?In fact, things like that can happen in even the ‘best’ laboratories and they do all the time.?It could have escaped that way.?It could have escaped when a messenger moved some samples from one place to another.?An example of a problem like that happened just yesterday when a truck carrying monkeys to a lab crashed and now at least one monkey is missing.?In the meantime everyone who responded to that emergency, if the monkeys were infected with something, might be infected.?At first that was treated like a traffic accident, just a few hours ago the CDC showed up along with some other strange ‘Agency’ so…that’s another story.

It could have been simpler than that.?A lab technician or a sanitary engineer in charge of getting rid of the dead animals may just have taken them over to that same wet market and sold them there.

Returning to the Great Unmasked – why aren’t people throwing in together as patriotic Americans to help and support each other at this time??I don’t know.?I recall when New York had its first surge the town where I grew up, Elmhurst, was the epicenter of the disease.?They were storing bodies in freezer trucks on the street.?They couldn’t get enough trucks.?There were helicopter flights for unknown reasons 24 hours a day to and from several locations.?Finally the President stepped in and whatever was done they were finally provided relief.?The rich and powerful in New York City and even in the Governor’s mansion took very little notice.

That behavior.?The behavior of the advantaged and the rich and powerful and those who identify with them or think they are them – that callous behavior flavored with greed and not a little racism has spread in the country and it has caused people who are patriotic, American and dedicated to our nation and their communities and neighbors to turn their backs on the few things we can do to slow this plague.

It all stems originally from the cruel, insane, irresponsible and over self-important individuals who created and disseminated this things and those in high office who refuse to recognize it and also refuse to understand that the actions they are taking and the commands that they are giving are dooming people to death.
