Citizens Advice Tunbridge Wells and District seek to appoint three new Trustees to strengthen Board

I am proud to have been involved with Citizens Advice Tunbridge Wells and District for nearly 20 years now. We are a local charity affiliated to the national network. Each of the Trustees tend to have their own specialism as well as providing general input and my specialist area is property - It is often a challenge to find quality accommodation for our highly trained staff at a cost affordable to the charity when finances are always under pressure.

We are looking to appoint three new Trustees to join the Board of Trustees at Citizens Advice Tunbridge Wells & District.

In 2021, the Tunbridge Wells and District Citizens Advice team of 34 staff and volunteers supported over 5000 local people, many of whom have been impacted by the knock-on effects of the pandemic. The area has seen a 146% increase of Universal credit claimants between March 2020 and July 2021, alongside a rise in the number of children living in poverty.

The Board of Trustees, led by Chair, Peter Oakford, work together to use their skills, knowledge and experience to help guide and govern the local team to achieve the best possible outcomes for communities in and around Tunbridge Wells. In early 2022, they are looking to appoint three new Trustees to bring additional expertise in the following key areas:

  • Technology – to ensure that the Board can make the right strategic decisions as they continue to transform the way services are offered.
  • Fundraising – to look at new ways to sustainably fund services in 2022 and beyond.
  • Human Resources – to help shape and develop the local team to drive the right outcomes for clients.

The Board seek applications from local people keen to become Trustees and contribute to the vital work of Citizens Advice in Tunbridge Wells. They are looking for competent, confident and connected Trustees who provide strong local strategic leadership and who reflect the diversity of the community.
