Cities welcome Clean Industrial Deal: But where is the 2040 climate target?
It has been an important month for Eurocities and our members. Last week, the European Commission unveiled its Clean Industrial Deal, a step towards Europe’s industrial transformation.
While a positive move, the plan ultimately falls short. By omitting a legally binding 2040 climate target, the EU has missed a key opportunity to balance economic growth with decarbonisation. In the months ahead, we will continue to call for increased EU climate ambition.?
