CITIC Dicastal - Digital Transformation Journey with SAP Leonardo enters SAP Innovation Awards for 2018

Last year, when I met Mr. Xiaobing Huang, CIO of CITIC DICASTAL at the SAP's Analytics Summit in Beijing for the first time very little did I know at the time that his vision and innovative thinking will lead to one of the first SAP Leonardo projects in China. The key theme of the project is for SAP and CITIC DICASTAL to co-innovate and deliver an innovative unique solution for the manufacturing industry to embark on the digital transformation journey.

For those who don't know about CITIC DICASTAL, it is world's no 1 company in automobile wheels and sold more than 45 million wheels in 2016. They have more than 20 factories in Americas, Europe and China.

Mr. Huang's vision was to take CITIC DICASTAL on a digital transformation journey and each time we met, he mentioned that there are several opportunities but we have to figure out something that demonstrates quick incremental value to the wider organisation as a starting point. The Cost Optimisation was considered to be the low hanging fruit. Hence, the business benefits for the project are kept very simple:

To conclude, I must say that Mr. Huang's vision, commitment and passion in taking a lead in digital transformation for CITIC DICASTAL is commendable and admirable.
