OMS - Training and Compliance
OMS offers Health & Safety, Construction, Quality and Environmental training and consultancy throughout the UK & Europe.
Here at OMS, we run open CITB Health and Safety Awareness courses.?It’s a popular course, and an essential course, if you need to apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Green Card/Labourers Card. Designed for all those who have entered or are looking to enter the construction and civil engineering industries.
What are the frequently asked questions about this course?
Q: Is this a good course for my apprentices?
The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is a great starting point for anyone new to the construction and engineering sectors. Although not necessarily a mandatory qualification for apprentices it can be used when applying for a CSCS Apprentice Card. Additionally it will support and expand their health and safety knowledge.
Those enrolled on an apprenticeship, will find support in their current qualification, and can register for an Apprentice CSCS card, issued free of charge. Apprentices should not be applying for the CSCS Labourers card.
Q: Is this course mandatory for all my employees?
The course is not mandatory however, a beneficial place to start when it comes to health and safety on site. This course ensures delegates are able to identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site and appreciate the need to perform safely, to stop and ask for advice if not sure, and to report unsafe acts to prevent accidents. If an employee requires a CSCS Labourers card, this course is required for the application.
If you have a cohort of delegates, it’s a great offsite team building course to send them on. If you only have one delegate, they will be well looked after at OMS’s training centre in the East Midlands.
Q: How long is the certificate valid for?
5 years. Once the certificate expires the training course must be completed again.
Q: Is OMS offering an accredited course?
Yes. OMS are an accredited CITB training provider.
Q: Will my team have to take an exam at the end?
There is a short, multiple-choice examination on the day. If a member of your team requires additional support to complete this assessment, please let us know and OMS will ensure that support is provided.
