If you’ve ever moved out of your hometown, you’ve experienced what it feels like to need to look up every address of the grocery store, bank, and even movie theater and use an app to get there from your home. I won’t date myself by bringing up how we got around before these digital resources were available, but some are still available today. Did you know in 2021, “40 percent of potential movers want to relocate due to homeownership reasons?”1?More people than ever before are wanting more outdoor space, storage, and space to work from home as this workstyle continues to grow.?
Learning a whole new living environment not only takes time, but it requires you to learn what you can get where. The same is applicable to online marketplaces. Fit Small Business reports, “The number of global online shoppers is predicted to rise more than 60% from 2014 to 2021 and 55% of consumers conduct research online when planning a major purchase.”2Just like when you move, you do research as you visit the stores around your new home. You learn where you can get the affordable clothes for your toddler, but also where the durable and cost-efficient items can be found.?
Technology shoppers are no different. With many leading public cloud marketplaces available, you need to be able to offer dynamically priced offers with extended B2B services to win over the research driven purchasers. Let’s dive into Cisco Marketplaces, starting with SaaS. Do you want to kick off this piece of our strategy??
Roy: Sure thing!?
Designed for Software as a Service (SaaS)
Roy: Marketplaces are the common “supermarket” that all partners and customers visit to shop for 140+ SaaS offers, and the rate is competitively climbing year over year. As you mentioned, Renato, more technology resellers and MSPs are doing research and purchasing online. We know these “technology shoppers” are also looking for a one-stop-shop. A place where they can put all their needed solutions into a single shopping cart. When our partners are offering Cisco technology and managed services, the complexity customers feel in managing multiple vendors disappears.?
I know when I’m shopping online, if I can’t get everything from a single store, I quickly resort to Amazon or another similar marketplace so I can get everything in?
Roy: Yes, Cisco customers will do the same, but through the SaaS marketplace, they have an opportunity to get these solutions in one place and for a great price.?
Proven Platforms
Moving into talking about our platform, how is Cisco different??
Roy: As the managers of millions of seats of software for customers, Distributor marketplaces have proven success and instill confidence for continued sales. Plus, when everything is in one place, customers can create solutions built from multiple offers that meet their customers business needs as they arise.?
With the speed technology moves, these Marketplaces are great for helping customers find the solutions they might not even know they need.?
Roy: It’s true. We’re hoping customers can better research what they need and see all available options. Which is a great segue into the next benefit.??
Self-Service
Roy: Need I say more. In the United State alone, “54% of consumers prefer to shop online”.3With the global pandemic that number will only increase as people grow more accustomed to that consumption practice. The no-touch experience is growing as more people begin to utilize self-service or self-checkout purchasing.?

This is perfect since these solutions are ones that will help our remote workforce needs the most, especially in rural areas. Now, I don’t typically like to talk about money this early in the game, but I think the financing piece is important.?

ROY: Software offers many choices in payment structures.??In Marketplaces, we’re able to offer different options to meet customer needs.??Pre-paid annual subscriptions let a customer pay for their service in advance so they can take advantage of budget when it’s available.??We also offer pre-paid monthly billing options, which make it easier to deploy Cisco technology today and make easy monthly payments over time.??Coming soon, we’ll also be offering consumption-based billing offers for MSPs.???Distributor Marketplaces offer all of this and a lot more, so I encourage our partners to reach out to their distributor to learn more about the capabilities of their marketplace.
