Circus Dreams Residency Engages Red Lion Senior Citizens in the Arts

York County, PA – Golden Connections Community Senior Center in Red Lion will host a public celebration of the recent “Circus Dreams” residency on Wednesday August 17th at 10:30am, where senior participants ages 65 to 90+ spent 14 weeks learning theatrical clowning, juggling, hooping, feats of balance, and poi spinning, and creating their own circus props. The residency is a part of the Arts in Education program hosted by the Cultural Alliance of York County, and in partnership with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts & supported by the York County Community Foundation’s Embracing Aging Program.

A truly unique experience, the Circus Dreams residency for seniors has been added to a robust list of educational programming offered by the Arts in Education program. Led by teaching artists Jenny Hill and Chris Tamburro, the program engaged seniors at Golden Connection in learning the circus arts, which have been shown in studies to the health and well-being of the population.

The event on Wednesday, August 17th from 10:30-11:30am at Golden Connections Community Senior Center will be a group celebration and skill share that demonstrates the joy, dedication, and collaborative effort that is inherent in circus arts. This event is open to all family, friends, and community members, to share in the fun, and witness the impact that programming like this can have.
