Circular Procurement As Life Support System

Waste does not exist in nature, because each organism contributes to the health of the whole.

So why are resources running out? 

It is because many business models are wasteful – make product, use and dispose.

Our life support system (Planet Earth) is struggling to cope with the demand of our current model of consumption which is make product, use and dispose.

We could carry on consuming in a much more effective manner recirculating the resources we have already extracted and powering our life support system with Renewable Energy.

As procurement experts, we need to keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.

This is Circular Procurement. It is the contribution by procurement discipline to sustainability.
