Circular Economy and Technical Warehousing in Telecommunications
If you look at typical inventory management solutions, 90+ or so percent are aimed at FMCG. Most solutions on top are designed to be simple “mono-directional” i.e. you go from Receiving to Stock to Shipping. In more complex (Technical) environments, where you address all stages of the asset lifecycle this withholds the user from optimising its inventory, and thus missing-out on potential significant savings.
Reverse logistics, including multi-location pooling, whether permanently (to be recycled) or temporary (repair & re-deploy, refurbish & re-use or re-sell) are often not addressed. Also here, when not managed properly, users will be reluctant to re-use equipment, resulting in major losses to the company over the entire lifespan of a Network.
With the circular economy not only being the right thing to do for our planet, it should also be supported by a “sane” business-case. We all like to do good, but at the end of the day, costs remain to be under control to assure your companies’ “health” and future.
With proven and real-life use cases, we can show that marrying both (saving or even making money, whilst reducing your CO2 footprint) is the perfect match. This not in “maybe some years from now”, but for sure and today!
