Circular Economy in Construction
Working with the University of Salford we are helping them with their circular economy research and data gathering for the UK construction industry.?To help with this research we invited Dr Juan Ferriz-Papi, Dr Meisam Barbaie and Theo Theodoridis to view the new University of Salford Science, Engineering and the Environment building.?
We first met on site were Justin Kay, our senior project manager, provided an excellent presentation and overview of the project, the circular economy initiatives adopted on site and an explanation of how we manage site waste.?The tour was excellently conducted by Justin, with a good questions raised by the University.?
The purpose of this research is to get an understanding of current best practices for construction waste by industry, so that the University of Salford can contribute with innovation at different stages for different disciplines. Their aim is to create a hub, or similar, where the industry can support implementation and research into circular economies within the UK built environment.?One particular part of this study is aimed at specific waste streams and waste processing, i.e. namely: packaging, plasterboard, glass, timber, plastic, concrete and masonry, including mapping, and collaboration with the different supply chains, to provide circular review and evaluation.?
Thank you to Justin and his team for making us all feel welcome.

2 年Thank you very much, Kane. It was a very good opportunity to know about your work and issues with waste on site, and discuss further about how to improve waste management and circular economy in construction projects.
