Circles of Change: Embracing Life's Twists and Turns

Life is a series of circles and relationships, often twisting and turning in ways we could never anticipate. In 2015, I embarked on a significant journey—marrying my partner, welcoming our first child, and finding the home we still cherish today. Little did I know that the connections I made, especially with a respected and trusted colleague Julie Etter , who sold us our house, would come back into my life in such meaningful ways.

From 2016 to 2024, we've navigated the beautiful chaos of raising three young kids under eight. Each year has brought new challenges and unexpected joys, but it was in 2021 that I experienced a pivotal moment—I was laid off. Instead of seeing this as a setback, I took a leap of faith and started my life coaching practice, becoming an entrepreneur.

The following year, I welcomed my third son during a massive blizzard on January 30th. Life has a funny way of throwing us curveballs, yet it’s those very moments that often lead us back to where we belong.

Through the years, I’ve worn many hats: caretaker, contract worker, consultant, speaker, employee, and even a job seeker. Each role has contributed to my growth in unique ways, revealing a non-linear path that felt uniquely meant for me.

Embracing the Non-Linear Journey

No one can fully prepare you for the growth that comes from embracing change. Our realities around values, money, and happiness are different, and that career formula we hear so much about looks different for each of us. Well-intentioned advice often reflects others' experiences, but it’s essential to carve your own path.

I call it the “gray area” of life. Over the past several years, adopting a growth mindset has been my guiding principle. Each habit I cultivate and every uncomfortable step I take opens up new opportunities. I lean into my future self, even when it feels terrifying.

The Importance of Pivots and Bridges

Why share this? Because pivots, redirects, and unexpected opportunities are often necessary steps on our journey. My career “pie” now includes various slices of things I enjoy and value, but it didn’t happen overnight. I had to clarify my capacity and find ways to blend my goals with family needs and personal passions.

As I prepared for the job market in 2024, I quickly learned that job searching can be a daunting beast. My strategy had to shift, grounded in compassion and grace. It’s about perseverance, staying the course despite fears and anxiety, and leaning into your network.

Finding the right role is not merely about luck; it requires a precise approach and the right mindset. It’s essential to remember that every job search demands a different strategy. Some roles may be financially driven, while others focus on maintaining balance or pursuing passion.

Embracing Your Unique Path

Transformation happens when we feel validated in our journeys, rather than sold an outcome. The answers you seek are already within you.

I’m excited to share that I’m embarking on a new adventure with the incredible team at Berkshire Hathway Home Services under the leadership of Julie Etter . Their team exemplifies core values that I was seeking in a culture: Flexible, Results-oriented, Team-oriented, Autonomy, Supportive, Collaborative leadership, Community, Family-friendly, and Professional development. What a gift. This role perfectly aligns with my administrative, marketing, and connecting skills, and I’m drawn to a culture that celebrates authenticity.

To my network—thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means so much to me.

And don’t worry—my life coaching business will continue to thrive, so feel free to reach out if I can assist you in any way!

As George Cukor wisely said, “You can always land on your feet if you know where the ground is.”?

I feel grounded now, ready to embrace this new chapter with a team that resonates with who I am.

Here’s to new beginnings!?

Special Thanks

I want to extend special thanks to those who have supported me over the past year. For everyone in my network who has been a part of my journey, I am sincerely grateful. Ed., CPLC Emily Stark , Rita Wang , Connie Aramento , Gina Monteforte Newton , Jill DePamphilis , Alexandra Compton (she/her/hers) SHRM-SCP , Becca Carnahan , Alicia Ramsdell, CCSP, GCDF, MST , Meg O'Neil, Donna Rustigian Mac , Leslie Forde , Amanda Hemm , BJ Corey Nadia McKay , Jamie Chapman .
