Circle of Influence

Do you know the difference between your circle of influence and your circle of concern?
A few specific changes can provide great results which is why you should spend a moment considering your circle of influence and concern.
If you image two circles, one inside the other, the outside circle is the circle of concern
Circle of Concern
These are topics like the news, politics, and gossip that are totally out of your control, yet a huge amount of energy is spent on it.
Politics and news are the biggest offenders. You can't change Washington post-elections. You can't change middle-eastern conflicts. It's one thing to be knowledgeable about them and another to dedicate too much time to it.
Circle of Influence
As you probably guessed, your circle of influence are things in your control.
? When you are allocating time, ask if this is in your circle of influence.
? How is this controllable or changed by anything I do?
? Can you affect change and if so, is the time spent worth it?
Action
Productive people have a narrow space between their circle of influence and their circle of concern, while unproductive people have a much bigger gap between them.
Take a moment and reflect on where you are spending your time, and if it's even in your circle of influence.
You will find there is a lot of time being wasted.
