Course Director, Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology

?

The Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology (CIO) is the leading meeting for those looking to learn efficient, innovative applications to significantly improve the lives of patients with cancer.

This year’s Symposium will be held September 20-22 at Loews Miami Beach, Florida. Renowned for its originality, practicality, and focus on improving patient care, CIO highlights the most viable and sought-after treatments in the rapidly expanding field of interventional oncology.

CIO is different from other IO meetings in that our goal is to be the most practical meeting with a focus on useful oncological knowledge, clinical tips, and technical pearls that attendees can immediately bring back to their practice. This year there will be more than 80 presentations led by 40 expert faculty, focusing on fundamentals in IO; morbidity and mortality in IO; interventions for prostate, pancreatic, and breast cancers; and the year in review.

My featured talks will include:

? Y90 Complication Prevention and Management from 2:47 to 2:56 p.m. on Friday, September 20;

? Hepatic Venous Deprivation: My Top 5 Technical Pearls from 5:25 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20;

? New Frontiers in Pancreatic Cancer: Transarterial and Transvenous Approaches from 9:30 to 9:37 a.m. on Saturday, September 21; and

? Robotics: What’s New and Where Are We Going? From 10:05 to 10:12 a.m. on Saturday, September 21.

Some of my favorite parts of the CIO program are the year in review on liver cancer, updates related to Y90 radioembolization, and technical tips and tricks sessions.?Another exciting session is one dedicated to emerging therapies and new technologies, as there are many exciting innovations in the field of IO.?

A standout feature for this year is our inaugural Breast Cancer Cryoablation Summit, taking place Thursday, September 19, and led by Dr. Yolanda Bryce. This dynamic event will showcase the latest advancements in cryoablation for breast cancer, combining interactive learning with hands-on experiences.

We are also bringing back “Tumor board debates” which was a new session we instituted at last year’s CIO that proved to be extremely popular. This session allows attendees to better understand different clinical data and utilize that information in a multidisciplinary tumor board setting.?

CIO is one of the largest scientific meetings in the world dedicated to minimally invasive treatment of cancer and focuses on the most up-to-date knowledge and state-of-the-art techniques from national and international leaders in the field. In addition to a comprehensive, fun, and interactive program, there are also plenty of opportunities to interact with faculty and network with colleagues.

I hope you will join me in Miami Beach for this year’s CIO, where you will expand your knowledge at the most interactive, engaging, and practical meeting related to IO.
