Cimbria Capital - 2022 New Year's Letter

Cimbria Capital - 2022 New Year's Letter

By Brian V. Iversen, Founder and Managing Partner of Cimbria Capital

The year 2021 became a year providing less clarity and resolution than most of us had hoped. We are still faced with more questions than answers related to the ongoing pandemic and its significant and unruly social and economic impacts. Even for those of us lucky enough to have escaped specific Covid-related tragedies, the ongoing uncertainties have become exhausting. In my personal experience and via everyday observations, it seems obvious that many are experiencing a decline in mental balance and overall health due to professional and social lives being uprooted. To me, one of the saddest outcomes of our shared challenges is the rising frustration we have for each other… more people seem on edge, and we are at times - for valid but unfortunate reasons - a little more short-sighted and frustrated, and less courteous, pleasant, and tolerant than we were before.

That frustration and worry have become commonplace is understandable. Many things have in fact changed for the worse and have become more difficult. Jobs and job security have been lost, social patterns have forcibly been changed, and the ongoing uncertainty itself can make even the sturdiest of us hesitate and stumble.

Let’s try to find our way back. Let’s take a deep breath and make a sincere effort to shed our unrest and worries. We have all been struggling, but we are still here, and we still have an ability to move forward. First and foremost, let’s provide ‘benefit of doubt’ to each other, and maybe most importantly, to ourselves. Let’s find reasons to be grateful. Remember those around you – friends, family, colleagues, and even complete strangers – who found the energy to support you and be there for you in this time of worry and distress. Allow yourself to pause before you blame yourself or others in your daily endeavors. – ‘Benefit of doubt’ oftentimes leads to tolerance and understanding. And understanding oftentimes leads to acceptance and appreciation. ‘Now’ would be a good time to forge an environment of tolerance, appreciation, decency, compassion, and benevolence, all things that take a backseat in times of ambivalence, if we are not cautious.

It’s much easier said than done; I am keenly aware. But let’s together make an effort to make 2022 a year that will surprise us all positively. I think we deserve it.

With that in mind, I will use this letter to emphasize my utmost gratitude to those around me whose support, professionalism, patience, and friendship have allowed for Cimbria to continue to move forward over the past 24 months. A sincere thank you to my business partners, Noah J. Sabich and Jason Plummer, individuals whose commitments have never wavered since the inception of our firm.

As importantly, I am grateful to the executives who decided to allow for Cimbria’s participation on their professional journeys. Those are the executives of our Partner Companies: AMI Global, APX10, Cimbria Consulting, Florida Drilling, Slater Infrastructure Group, Develiot, Fixed Earth Innovations, and Micronic Technologies.

These executives and their skillsets and experiences are the true fabric of our firm. A sincere thank you and continued good luck to each of Henrik S. Laursen, Ori Peled, David Drake, Ulrich B. Hansen, Richard Eberle, Olufemi Osidele, Ph.D., Brian Solvig Stenberg, Dan Ringdahl, Noah Ringdahl, Jeanne Simkins Hollis, Esq., Andrew Hollis, Miroslav Gechev, Timothy Repas, Daniel Lanman, and Karen D. Sorber.??

Noah, Jason, and I – as well as the entire Cimbria crew - will continue to support you and your companies with the best of our abilities in your ongoing and future endeavors. We are very proud to be on your team.

?______________________________________________________________________

I will end this year’s note with similar words as I used last year, in the hopes that 2022 will be kinder to our wishes and plans. We are welcoming the new year with a readiness to reach additional milestones and to further strengthen our position as a change-maker in water, agriculture, renewable energy, and resiliency. Let’s all stay positive and relentless in our efforts to get what we deserve.

With this in mind, I wish all of you – friends, colleagues, business partners, and investors - a prosperous and happy 2022. We at Cimbria thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to updating you on our progress and developments in the new year via our websites, newsletters, and LinkedIn.

Happy New Year!
