CIMB Bank PH builds solar lamps for Zambales town affected by Typhoon Egay

CIMB Bank Philippines, in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Liter of Light, recently united to construct solar lamps for communities with limited access to electricity.? This initiative aligns with CIMB's commitment to sustainability and community well-being in the Philippines, coinciding with National Disaster Resilience Month in July.?

Liter of Light is a global, grassroots movement committed to providing affordable, sustainable solar lights to people with little or no access to electricity. To date, it has installed more than 350,000 bottle lights in more than 15 countries.?

This effort further gained urgency when Liter of Light received a plea for assistance from an indigenous community in San Marcelino, Zambales, which had lost power due to the aftermath of Typhoon Egay. The solar lights assembled by the 50 volunteers from CIMB Bank PH will be donated to this community.?

Illac Diaz, Founder and Executive Director of Liter of Light, praised CIMB's dedication to sharing knowledge and tools, which helped illuminate the homes of 50 households affected by Typhoon Egay. Each hand-built solar light reduces carbon emissions by 200 kg, contributing to a more hopeful and sustainable future for these families.?

Volunteers from different CIMB Bank PH departments expressed their appreciation for the activity, as they were able to see how their small, collective action can bring profound change to communities in need.?
