Well, well, well… we’ve “almost” stuck to our deadline and made it to edition three. I know you’ve been checking LinkedIn for the last week, desperate for your monthly dose of HR tech and innovation news… and I’m pleased to say this month we are just one week late… that’s certainly an improvement on 15 months!
For those new to the Churn, it's some of the best content we’ve found (and occasionally created !) about HR tech and innovation on the Web, and we’ve done the hard work and brought it here for you!

Counting the cost of poor recruitment?
We’ve all got horror stories of recruitment that didn’t quite work out –?but with this tool, we can now evaluate how costly such mistakes can be. The web page enables you to add statistics and figures, and the approximate cost of a single bad hire can be calculated based on a number of variables. Check it out –?you’ll be amazed, and thanks to Christopher Platts and the team at Thrivemap for making this available to everyone!?
HR budget and efficiency benchmarks
This research from Gartner contains benchmarking insights from their 2022 HR Budget and Efficiency Benchmarking Survey to help human resources leaders compare their HR function’s performance against peers’, assess cost optimisation strategies and prioritise future HR investments. Some big challenges there that no doubt many of our readers will face, and this article has lots of insights, recommendations and data.
Tech hiring tips?
In the ever-changing tech world, business owners are having to think about their hiring strategy and priorities. Bernard Marr 's brilliant piece here cuts straight to the chase and gives his views on the top five tech skills you should be hiring right now –?and, of course, it includes our favourite at number 1, an AI specialist!
Who cares about HR data?
It’s a good question –?and hopefully, this piece in HR Magazine by Paul Rubenstein is part of the solution. The article argues that HR has come a long way since Covid –?but data is so important to creating solutions. There are four ways to get people to care about HR data –?check them out.
HR predictions?
It might be April, but this YouTube clip from Josh Bersin is still relevant, outlining his predictions for the HR world in 2023. Not only does Josh present his estimates of what’s around the corner, but he offers potential solutions too. A very helpful watch.

Women in the workplace?
A brilliant, thought-provoking piece from Bob can be found here . The article unpacks the results of a survey they conducted to learn more about women’s perspectives on their places of work and how these extraordinary times of tumultuous change have impacted them.?In total, 3,000 professional women were interviewed: 1,000 in the United States, 1,000 in the United Kingdom, and 1,000 in Australia. All of the respondents were 25 and older and worked full-time hybrid, remote, or on-site throughout the last three years (2020-2022).?
