Chronicling my journey in cybersecurity

I have the extremely fortunate and interesting job of working in a complex hyper fast-changing field - Cybersecurity. Threats are numerous, vulnerability points are endless, the risks are very real - life or death sometimes.
When it comes to security, be it Cyber or Corporate/Physical, people know a bit here and there but the reality is that it is a complicated, technical and frustratingly acronym heavy environment for some "light learning". That being said, every time I speak to my friends, family, colleagues or random people there is always tons to discuss as new information comes out every single day.
Cybersecurity has been a passion of mine for a long time and I have been actively learning about this field for over a decade. I am fortunate now to be working in this field furthering my knowledge and having the opportunity to engage with experts on a daily basis. Prior to this, I have had the distinct privilege of working for many years in Enterprise sales, cutting my teeth working with large multinational corporations to help deal with complex data privacy/management/governance, etc. related challenges. This has ultimately prepared me to enter this fascinating and complicated filed. That being said, there is a lot to learn.
I started reading "The Official (ISC) 2 Guide to the CISSP CBK Reference'', numerous blogs and online news outlets. After being peppered by questions on Cybersecurity by my Uncle, he suggested that I write a blog about what I am learning. Then my good friend and a former colleague suggested that I narrow the focus and make it digestible by the general public. Moving forward, this is what I plan to do. I am committing myself to give you (the general public) an abridged version of what I am reading and learning with the hope that I will inform you of how you can better your own cybersecurity knowledge as well as learn something new about this field.
I cannot stress how many people are in the dark about their security and what damages it can have on their wealth, health, and life in general. As such, I hope that this blog will help to inform you about the risks that we all face in today's digital society.
With that in mind. See you next Friday!
