Chronicles of Youth Social Entrepreneurship
“There is a time for some things, and a time for all things; a time for great things, and a time for small things.” ―?
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote
Entrepreneurship requires a certain inventiveness, curiosity about others, acquiring knowledge, ability to tolerate diverse ideas and a system to deliver an impact. Chess Without Borders believes that social entrepreneurship can be cultivated in childhood when "there is a time for small things that lead to great things". Children are naturally drawn to ideas and creative ventures. They need help implementing them and that is where the team at Chess Without Borders steps in to provide a wealth of investment and support in growing their ventures. Since its inception the chess program in Barrington, Illinois which itself was a social entrepreneurial idea that grew into a successful award winning program, has nurtured youth social entrepreneurship. Youth have raised funds through a unusual variety of methods raising over $216,000 for donations to local and global charities.
