My Unexpected Day as a "Lead Architect"

Sometimes in IT, you just have to roll with the surprises—and this was one of those days.

I was onsite supporting a solution integration for a client when our Project Manager approached me the day before a big presentation. "Dilyan," he said, "could you prepare the technical part of the presentation for our new product?"

I blinked. "But I’m not familiar with this product—it’s brand new."

"Don't worry," he assured me. "Just add technical details, and I’ll lead the presentation."

The next day, as the senior client management team entered the room, I took a deep breath, expecting to play a background role. Then the PM announced with a confident smile:

"We are pleased to present our new product. And here’s our lead architect, Dilyan, who will walk you through the technical details and explain how this solution best fits your needs."

Talk about being thrown into the spotlight!

It was nerve-wracking, but I managed to navigate the questions and even find moments of clarity despite the unexpected situation.
