Chronic Pain: The Hidden Cause You're Overlooking

Chronic Pain: The Hidden Cause You're Overlooking

Are you sick of living a double life? Excelling in your high-pressure career, but struggling with back pain or migraines that won't go away? You're not alone. The truth is that chronic pain is a widespread issue, affecting millions of people globally. And for many of us, the root cause isn't physical....

Neuroplastic pain is the result of our bodies internalizing stress, emotion, and overwhelm, to a point that is unsustainable. The brain processes emotional and physical pain in the same place - so stress can actually trigger the brain to turn on physical pain signals.

So how does this happen? Well, the human body has an incredible defense mechanism known as the "fight or flight" response - survival mode. When we perceive a threat, whether it be physical or emotional, our body releases stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline. Our brain tells our body to prepare for a survival level threat - like a tiger.

Here's the thing - our brain starts to fire the same patterns when we get a snarky email, when our parents teacher gives us tough feedback, or even when we catch someone looking at us in the grocery store. The brain starts to think....hey.... this is a pretty dangerous place.

Now, imagine living in a constant state of stress, anxiety, or overwhelm. Your body is continuously triggering the "fight or flight" response - you are basically living on the edge of burnout. Then, you start to get an ache in your back, or knee, or a migraine that just won't quite. So, you go to a doctor. Once they rule out that nothing major is going on, they most likely offer you an injection or a pill to 'manage' the pain.

You start to wonder, why can't the doctor find out what's wrong and really fix it? Wow there must be REALLY something wrong. Or maybe they tell you you have a bit of arthritis, maybe a bulging disc. Does it explain your pain level?

No...But it does make you feel more and more afraid that your body is broken.

This is where the stress and health anxiety start to amp up the pain signals - and the pain becomes chronic.

The more you worry and stress about the pain, the more the pain signals in your brain get amplified, and the more pain you feel. It's a vicious cycle that can be hard to break. But it's important to remember that this doesn't mean the pain isn't real. It just means that the root cause is different from what you might have thought. All pain is created in the brain - no matter if there is physical tissue damage or not - so ALL PAIN IS REAL.

If you're experiencing chronic pain that doctors can't seem to explain, it's time to start looking at the root cause of your pain...and it's probably not physical.

As a Pain-Free Coach, I help my clients break free from the pain cycle by addressing the underlying emotional and life factors that are keeping the pain signals turned on. By rewiring the brain, calming the nervous system, and releasing and reprocessing stuck emotions, you can turn those overactive pain signals off.

This is NOT pain management - this is actually curing pain - so you can live with no pain, not just less pain.

So if you're tired of living a double life and want to take back control of your life, I invite you to reach out to me. If I can do it - so can you!
