Chronic Cases Of Apathy
Another beautiful September morning arrived, and you can be sure I was taking every advantage of it. In spite of it being somewhat cooler, there were enough gnats buzzing about to where I didn't spend any more time outdoors than necessary.
Before landing at office, I stopped by one of my well known's, just to drop off one of my prize watermelons, and since I'd gifted both he and his spouse one in the past, I knew it would be well received, and thus it was.
We talked a little bit about gardening, but the remainder of our time, was spent talking about how some who think they know what's best for this city, are completely out of touch with reality, but there never seems to be any sort of movement towards educating themselves as to what's really going on out in the trenches. He caused me to bristle a little when saying, "You gotta remember Joe, not everyone looks at the whole picture like you do." Of course for me, that's cop out because it doesn't matter if it's me or the mailman, there's got to be some educating going on in this town regarding the direction it's taking, which looks more and more like a runaway train that's lost its brakeman. His problem, like everyone else's, is the fact that they don't want to make waves or 'iss' someone off. Well, to me, that'a a cop out, and all those who live in the state of such fears, dwell in a darkness they've created for themselves, so when such idiotic plans end up affecting their lives, I'll be having little pity for them because they didn't take action when they should've.
On my way to office, I couldn't help remembering the times when I've heard young people complaining about our Local, State and National Governments, and the first thing I ask them is, "Do you go and vote every time we have an election?" Nearly every one of them say they don't, and the lame excuse they give is that their singular votes won't make any difference. Yes, we've all heard that before. Right? Well, these recent years, I tell those bellyaching people they haven't the right to complain because they didn't vote. You can be sure I've been telling as many young ones as I can that they absolutely must get themselves registered, and vote their consciences.
I had a little desk work to get completed when I arrived, and once that was finished, I changed into my work clothes and headed out to get started on cleaning up a unit before its new tenant moves in next week.
When I got there, the first thing I attacked, were the filthy windows which always takes longer than expected, but I did get them looking the way they appeared before the last tenant moved in. The following six hours were spent washing woodwork, scrubbing wood floors, cleaning kitchen cabinets, a stove, a refrigerator, and the entire bathroom. By the time I was finished with the bathroom fixtures, it was definitely time to call it quits, so that's all I have left to do, is wipe down the bathroom walls, and clean the kitchen sink and countertop. Before leaving, I stepped back and gave it all a good look and then said to myself, "You know, I could actually live here." Of course I'm always a pushover for hardwood floors and gobs of natural light which that unit definitely offers.

While working away, I did have to stop what I was doing and run back to office and grab my shop vac, and just as I was turning the corner where that coffee shop is at the Post Office intersection, I happened to see two people seated outside whom I immediately recognized. The one I focused on, was a particular 'reli' who for whatever reason, pounced on me with all fours some years back, and ever since then, I've had zero contact, which is just fine by me, and only because whenever a person says something cutting to me and don't soon after apologize, it's definitely a sign that their true feelings were on display. Like the old saying goes, 'Sooner or later, the truth will out.'
There are a select few in the world who know they'd best not call or get in my face, because the gloves would be off, and that's just the way it should be, because most bad people do know when they've crossed the line, so to protect themselves from a tongue lashing out in the light day, they remain in their dark circles and dirty holes.
My cleaning was interrupted by a phone call from an out of State 'reli' who was just checking in on what's been happing on my side of the fence. Well, after spilling my guts regarding some additional news I'd received these last several days, I could tell there was a deep anger building, so I changed the subject and talked about some happier things until our conversation was over. It wasn't be ten minutes later, I received a text from my caller which was filled with cutting words and a deep disgust towards a perpetrating ringleader and a select few. On the positive side, I text back, "All we can do, is deal with each day as it comes, while continuing to make the best of it."
Since I had so very much time to think while toiling away today, I began pondering the many millions of people in America living ticky-tacky lives who've become so apathetic towards the masses, they're unknowingly allowing all these bat-shite crazy politicians to become all the more vocal to where they're actually gaining followers, and only because nobody wants to take the initiative to silence them. As I've said many times, if our democracy is destroyed, it'll be from within. A classic example of the many cases of chronic apathy, are the citizens of Alabama allowing that crazy Senator Tommy Tuberville to hold our military leadership hostage, and only because he can. There's no question it's only because he wants all the attention he can get. There's no doubt that deep in his soul, he couldn't give a hoot about abortion issues, but it's his bandwagon now, and just remember, there are many other politicians doing the same thing, which is very regrettable.
Tonight's One-liner is: Reason often makes mistakes, but conscience never does.
