Colour the Colourless
People following my LinkedIn page regularly might have known that I am working on a project- The ChroMate. We call ourselves the ChroMakers. When were said to choose a problem statement by our DT coordinator, we initially don't have any idea but soon as we started the research, we came across Colour blindness. We know the importance of vision. Fortunately all my teammates agreed with the chosen problem statement.
Now we have a problem. But what about the solution? Again we made a research on the existing models that are available for the colour blinds.
As the research continues, our path got more and more clear. We understood that we cannot let the know the actual colours. Why? They don't even have the cells that are responsible for detecting the colours. But we can ofcourse help them locate. Hence we planned to rephrase our solution.
"if the plan you've got isn't working out for you, don't give up on the goal itself. Instead, reevaluate your approach, adjust your strategy, and keep moving forward." - Zig Ziglar
Our plan was like, Get the input of the image - play with the pixels - show the output. So we tried to replace the pixels whose colour cannot be recognized by Colourblind people with the colours that they can see.
We were planning to use a camera and process the image using Python and Arduino. At last an led screen to give the output. But instead we use colour sensor to get the colours and an lcd display the provide the output. As days passed finally we made an early prototype.
We were waiting for a recognition. And fortunately our institution conducted a DT Bootcamp. We immediately understood that this is the moment we were waiting for...
And that is the first step of the ChroMate...
