Christopher Pincher, MP visits Mr Electric, Birmingham.

MP for Tamworth, Chris Pincher made news when he visited our Tamworth premises just before Easter, after reading about us becoming one of the first companies in the Midlands approved to install and *fund Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargepoints by OLEV (Govt. Office for Low Emissions). He is interested in our role in helping to put an infrastructure together in the Midlands to support the Governments ￡400m investment to boost the availability of electric vehicle chargepoints. Chris Pincher commented:

“It was great to see Mr.Electric, a local firm, being supported to promote such vital, forward thinking work. Electric vehicles have the ability to revolutionise travel; making the roads quieter, the air cleaner, and creating a more pleasant environment for our children. The statistics show that more electric cars are coming on the roads so it’s important that our infrastructure keeps up.

“I would also like to encourage anybody to have a ride in an electric car if you get the opportunity. I was very surprised by their power and speed – obviously within keeping of the local speed limit.”

I really appreciate the interest from our local MP, and the opportunity to welcome him to our premises, show him around and demonstrate how we are helping customers across the Midlands by installing OLEV approved, grant funded EV Chargepoint’s at their home or workplace, and in the public sector to support the growing need to reduce emissions.

We are registered to grant OLEV funding *of ￡500 per home installation point, ￡300 per workplace point, for up to 20 points. There is a completely funded option for the public sector and charities.

We embrace the opportunity to help more people and businesses switch to electric and reap the economic and environmental benefits EV’s bring and we are heartened by the interest and support, including a local dealer very kindly lending us an i3 electric vehicle to demonstrate the technology.
