A Christmas Wish
Dear friends,
As we prepare for the holidays just days away, and things begin to wind down in our offices, I can’t help but reflect on what an interesting year it has been. The list is long but what stands out is the surprise British vote to exit the EU, the exciting Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, the failed military coup in Turkey, the controversial US presidential election, and most recently the US Fed’s decision to finally raise interest rates.
We’re close to saying goodbye to yet another year and while we might do so with a few more grey hairs and perhaps another wrinkle, I’m grateful for how our firm’s clients and employees have swiftly capitalized on the opportunities presented during this challenging environment.
As wealth continues to grow in Canada, middle to high net worth investors continue to seek “high touch” personalized service from independent firms offering objective advice. In 2016, between good client portfolio performance and new advisors joining Harbourfront, our client assets have grown by 22%. This year we’ve opened an additional 4 branches and continue to grow our existing national presence.
Results don’t come easy, they come with long hours, a bit of stress, and lots of coffee. I’d like to thank all of our advisors, portfolio managers and support staff in our retail branches for their continued commitment to their clients and their workmates.
This December I’ve entered my 20th year in an industry I cherish so much. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some great people and it continues to be extremely gratifying seeing you reach your investment and life goals. In addition to learning from our clients, I’ve learned so much from those I work with every day. I’d like to thank you all for the great work environment you’ve created, for challenging me, for making me a better person, and for being my friend.
To all of our clients, our readers, and Harbourfront colleagues: I wish you the very best for 2017 and hope it’s filled with health, happiness, and spectacular success. From my family to yours, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Season’s Greetings, and a Happy New Year!
Your friend,
Danny
