Christmas starts here

Too soon?? Too soon!

Hi friends,

There are now less than 50 days to Christmas. I just realized it myself today, mostly because at least a dozen Christmas ads dropped this week alone. I’m not sure yet if I’ll do a dedicated issue for holiday campaigns—probably just going to highlight the noteworthy ones as we get closer to the December break.

Let’s kick off with the Marks and Spencer campaign, from which I borrowed the title: it didn’t hook me right away, and you might be tempted to skip it... until, about 40 seconds in, there’s a musical twist with an epic track that totally changes the vibe.

The other holiday ad is from Waitrose, which feels like a mash-up of?The Bear?Christmas episode,?Knives Out?vibes with a familiar?Succession?face stepping into the role of Benoit Blanc.

Aside from this holiday preview, check out Uber’s new fun campaign and the music provider Out/Standard rebranding.

Have a good read.
