Christmas Reflection: A Message from Dr. Mercer

Christmas Reflection: A Message from Dr. Mercer

Dear Leaders,

This Christmas, I invite you to reflect on a profound aspect of this sacred, true story: the shepherds in the field.

In Luke 2:8-20, we read how God chose humble shepherds—ordinary workers faithfully tending their flocks at night—to first hear the heavenly announcement of Jesus' birth. These men, considered the least among men, became the first witnesses of the Savior, a reminder that God works through those who faithfully steward what He has entrusted to them.

As leaders, we, too, are called to be shepherds. Our fields may look different—teams, families, organizations, churches, businesses, or communities—but the call remains the same: to care, guide, and nurture with diligence and love. The shepherds’ response is our model. They heard the message, responded with urgency, and shared the good news with others, glorifying God along the way.

This Christmas, let us reflect on the fields we’ve been entrusted with and how we are leading in them. Are we listening for God’s voice as the shepherds did? Are we quick to act and share the hope of Christ with those around us?

May this Christmas renew your strength and fill your heart with joy as you continue leading with purpose, passion, and power. Like the shepherds, let us stand in awe of the gift of Jesus and share that awe with those we serve.

Merry Christmas, and may the peace of the Good Shepherd guide and sustain you always.

?

Blessings,
