The Christmas Present

As a Christmas present, a young man received a generous gift from his brother. It was the trendiest car he had ever seen. On Christmas Eve, he went for a drive in his new car. He drove through the town to get a feel of the new vehicle and decided to stop near a park for a while.
“Is this your car, Mister?” asked a young boy. The young man nodded with pride. “My brother got me this amazing car for Christmas,” he said. The boy’s eyes grew wide in astonishment, “Do you mean your brother got this fantastic car for you and it didn’t cost you anything? Oh Boy, how I wish…” the boy stopped mid-sentence.
The man knew what the little boy was going to wish for. Of course, He would want a brother who would get him a beautiful car. But what came from the young boy’s mouth stunned the young man.?
“One day, I wish,” the boy continued, “that I could be a brother just like your brother.”
The young man was astounded and said impulsively, “Would you like to take a ride in my new car?”
“Yes, Yes. I’d love that,” the kid enthusiastically responded.
With eyes glowing and a smile spread across his face, he said, “Would you mind driving to my home?”
The man smiled and gladly obliged. They made their way home together. He thought he knew what the young boy wanted. He wanted to show kids in the neighbourhood that he could ride home in a fancy car. But, the man was wrong again.
The boy ran up the steps. He took a while, and when he returned, he was carrying his disabled little brother. The young boy pointed at the man’s fancy car, saying to his brother, “There it is, just like I told you. His brother presented it to him for Christmas, and it didn’t cost him a cent. And one day, I’m going to give you something like this. Then you will be able to see for yourself all the beautiful decorations in the Christmas windows I’ve been trying to tell you about.”
The young man helped the little brother climb into the car’s front seat, and the three had a memorable holiday ride. That day the young man learned the real meaning behind the saying, “It is in giving that we receive.”
Reading this story filled my heart with gratitude for all those who have generously given me so much. Friends who have taken time to choose gifts with love and offered their time during tough times. Mentors who have shared their experiences and enriched my journey. It has left me with a question, "What would I love to give from a place of unconditional love?"
I would love to hear what came up for you while reading this story.
Wishing you a great week ahead ??
