Christmas: the most wonderful time of the year?

Are you full of Christmas cheer? Or are you feeling the pressure of the festive season, with a busy diary of parties, work piling up, presents to buy and wrap, cards to send and a whole host of things to organise for the ‘perfect’ family Christmas? ?
It’s all over social media, recipes on how to make mistletoe and cranberry spritzers, the matching festive pyjamas for the entire family, the perfect table spreads with matching napkin holders and doorway arches of baubles.
But in reality, these images cause a whole load of stress and overwhelm for women everywhere.
Sometimes in the busyness of Christmas, we go on autopilot, we try to please everyone and end up doing all sorts that we don’t want to do.
So here are my top tips to help you feel calm and in control:
?? Say no. We often feel guilty for saying no but it is much better for you than constant people pleasing and feeling resentful. Choose what you want to do instead.
?? Delegate at home and at work. At home ask for help with the wrapping and housework and at work delegate some tasks to your team.
?? Concentrate on what you can control. How much time do you spend worrying about things that are out of your control? Stop for a moment and really think about it. At one time or another most of us do it, however it really is a waste of our precious energy – what can you do about things that you can’t control? Nothing.?
??Remember that self doubt affects us all at times, try not to compare yourself to others, instead focus on 5 things you have achieved this year!
?? Do something for you – that yoga class, bubble bath or even go for a walk. A change of scenery can do wonders for your mood.
Sometimes it's good for us to stop and take a look at what's happening.??
And reflect on how as women we often take on too much.?
I hope these are some helpful reminders to keep you focused over the Christmas period!
