CHRISTMAS HOPE

As always, I’m not on anybody’s “side” politically, just trying to champion common sense.

As a turbulent year draws to a close, it ushers in a short period when most of us will set aside our differences and wish well to others. It’s also an opportunity for politicians to set aside posturing and, instead, to enjoy an opportunity to reflect on their fundamental duty to seek to make better the lives of others. Our society is diverse, with haves and haves-not, interspersed with those seeking to just get by. All their lives are affected by politics and its power to make decisions over them. So my message, at this festive time, to those who govern and to those who would govern, is to remember in your reflection that you are servants of the public (not the other way around) and that trust has been placed in you by all to strive, genuinely, to improve their lives. Please seek to do that in 2024.
