Gifts for the people in your team

What is the biggest gift a team member has given you?

We all have had those moments. What made it special for you? Do you remember the thing that person had said, that made you feel seen, that made you feel heard, that made you feel appreciated? Who was that person? What did they tell you? How did they make you feel? Did you receive it?

Do you remember how it made you re-think yourself, maybe your team, maybe your life? How one such small act of kindness, one moment of care, could have such an impact on you?

I've always found it peculiar. The focus on our project goals. How we push people to perform better. How we focus on the promotions. On the product release. On the thing to put on our resume.

And yet, in retrospect, what are those things really worth? What did those things mean compared to someone who was truly there for us at the time we truly needed it?

How to be a true team player? How to be a leader?

One utterance, one sentence, one word. It can be the biggest life changing gift that a person desperately needs. May this be an invitation to offer such gifts to the people around us ??
