Christianity and Modern Science, in Harmony?

"DEUS CARITAS EST" "GOD IS LOVE." That is why creation is God's gift. ????
God is Love, Unity in the diversity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. He is eternal, absolute "existence" from eternity to eternity- not in time. From Genesis, we learn that it is God's Word that brings forth Creation.; God speaks, and Creation becomes. This Word that God speaks is God, the Son of God. This WORD is spoken out - away from God into that which is not God but nothing. God's WORD spoken into nothingness brings forth something, Creation. The Word of God spoken into that which is not God is the creative source from which everything in Creation becomes. This creative source is the creative center of Nature. It is the Word of God but in the total “otherness” of Creation. How can this be?
Our logic clearly states that something cannot be that which it is not. However, that is precisely the core message that this paradox delivers. It states that God can be God in that which is not God.
Is it reasonable to believe such a paradox? From the Christian perspective, there are quite a few more paradoxes also central to the Christian faith, for example, the paradox of incarnation. Humans are not God, and God is not human- except in Christ, who is truly God and truly human, prove that God can be God in that which is to God.
Furthermore, God demonstrates he can be God in that which is not God in the Lord’s supper. Bread is not flesh, and wine is not blood- except in the Eucharist where bread is the body of Christ and wine His blood.
Also, there is the paradox of God’s strength through weakness. For our logic, what is weak cannot be strong; yet Christ saves Creation through dying on the Cross.
There is also the paradox of providence. For us, planning to reach a precise goal excludes chance and fortuity. A manager will not grant his subordinates total independence, total freedom of action. However, in Christ’s passion, God’s providential plan to save Creation happens with absolute precision through the free action of all involved- even the cock cries at precisely the right time.
Conclusion: That Nature is capable of becoming itself is perhaps the most significant result of modern science. The "mechanism" through which Nature can become itself is Emergence. Novelty emerges through the sequential syntheses of parts (already previously synthesized) into emergent novelty. That is why the ontological architecture of all created existence is united diversity.
The fundamental revelation of Christianity is that God is love. Therefore, Creation must be God's Gift. The gift is His WORD, given away to Creation. Thanks to this Gift of God’s creative WORD, Nature is capable of freely becoming itself.
God's WORD, however, is the source of all that is. How can we know? We can see that because all created existence carries the mark of the Triune WORD of God; all created being exists as united diversity, the watermark, the imprint of God's eternal "Existence" as Unity in the diversity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Humans are the creatures of Nature capable of recognizing God’s gift because our self-consciousness may uncover it deep within our selves. It may lead to a grateful recognition of God’s gift, and perhaps even a “thank you” through contributing to God’s work with our life.

3 年Thank you, Father Sorin Bugner. I very much appreciate your comment. If you can, please broadcast "Christianity and Modern Science, in Harmony?" Rudy

3 年Rudolf B. Brun, You have made your points very well. The only dissonance seems to be the indiscriminate use of Philosophy, Theology and Science to make your point. Since each of the above has its own method and limiting structures, wouldn't it be better to distinguish them? What I feel is that while we may prove God's Existence logically, His nature can be known only through Theology. As for the Science, it is limited to the observable and experimentable Universe.
