Christchurch Real Estate Update - December 2022
Happy New year to you!?I hope you found some time to relax, unwind and reflect on the year that has been and most importantly, on the year ahead. Are you making any big changes or any exciting new years goals??
In early?January my wife and I went on a cruise from Brisbane up to Cairns and back sailing through the beautiful Whitsundays.?We were blessed with calm seas and fantastic weather the entire week and the service was amazing.?I do highly recommend cruising if you have the opportunity.?
Cruising is such a great way to truly relax and enjoy some spectacular sights along the way - plus, you only have to unpack once! This year we completely?unplugged?from the internet?and our devices for the most part for 8 days. It was bliss!?It's hard to explain how amazing this is for your mental health and such a great way to reset for the year.?I managed to read four?books to feed my mind and it's?fair to say I picked up a few extra kg’s along the way with the endless dining options.
The Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas is a massive ship with?over 4,000 passengers and 1,500 crew?onboard! It's literally a floating town - the shear logistics of it all is mind-blowing. I grew up in Picton with a population at the time of around 3,500 people - pretty incredible in comparison.?This was the largest ship we've been on, absolutely mighty but we absolutely loved it!?
The cruise topped off an extended break for me and it felt great coming back to the office on the 16th?of January fully recharged and rearing to go. And just as well too, as the very first day back we prepared the photos for a new property just listed in Lincoln, the settlement for my Greenpark Street property in Hoon Hay, a business planning session?and a new appraisal for a Prebbleton property - watch this space! Game on!

The rest of the Harcourts Lincoln team have been busy too with an influx of properties coming to market across the region. This is typical activity post holidays and it feels like we are back in the typical pre-covid real estate cycle. A lot easier to predict!
Our sellers have been busy decluttering and preparing their homes to sell over the break, and now we head into the busiest months of real estate - February and March. The big question to be answered is what will the buyers do? Many of us reflect on our living arrangements after the New Year and make a goal to upsize, downsize, cash in on some equity, buy our first home, or perhaps buy an investment. Only time will tell and I can’t wait to speak to more buyers at my open homes to find out what is motivating their decision to buy. I’ll let you know in next month’s eNewsletter.
I wish you a prosperous and successful 2023 and if I can help with your next real estate move, give me a call and we can catch up for a coffee or something stronger!
Cheers, take care, and enjoy the sunshine! ??
