Chris Sankey - Trudeau's Just Transition Will Kill 450,000 Oil & Gas Jobs. That's OK With Him But Not For Indigenous Communities

The Government's just transition agenda is going to kill 450,000 oil and gas jobs, but apparently all those workers want to enter the computer science sector. If your ambition is to decarbonize your part of the world great, I am happy for you..fly at it. However, trying to force an agenda down the throats of many indigenous communities is wrong. This agenda is going to destroy hundreds of communities who want responsible resource development.

The focus needs to be clean energy, which is Innovation and technology. I need to remind the public without the oil and gas sector there is no economy. We need energy to make our country function. Innovation and technology is better and we are reducing emissions and our carbon footprint. Without oil and gas we cannot produce the billions of tons of raw materials needed to build windfarms, solar and produce cobalt for EV's. Furthermore; we need to feed our machines with oil and gas to do the job. The oil and gas sector is what brings cleaner fuels to market. It is the the every day women and men in the energy and manufacturing sector who are making that a reality. The 2.0 agenda needs to be open to the oil and gas sector. Without LNG there is no Hydrogen, Biodegradable Synthetic and Renewable Fuels. Fossil fuels are keeping us all alive. Cutting off nuclear was a mistake.

If we don't start realizing the damage this green new deal is doing to families and communities then this will cost the economy billions to recover, decades to over come and higher taxes to all of us. Our people can barely put food one the table and pay for a bus pass as it is.

If you are willing to spend millions of dollars, not including the billions for the country to decarbonize your communities by all means go-ahead, but know that many of our Indigenous communities are but a blip in the pond of carbon. Some of our communities can use the reduction of emissions per-capita. I am in favor of bringing clean energy to those communities, but business wise I can think of better ways to spend that money that will benefit our country, people and take care of the environment. PLANET< PEOPLE< PROFIT

So, when pro responsible resource development communities want to move forward on energy projects, please respect those leaders and communities who want to see their people manage wealth and not poverty.

Trudeau is an inexperienced politician and remember the liberal party are a minority government. Time for opposition parties to step up and stop his archaic mandate. Let the Indigenous Community occupy Ottawa and observe how fast the PM responds. Indigenous Community deserve better. Some communities are still waiting for safe drinking water and better health care, now the opportunity for good paying jobs will be sourced out to another country that will be supporting energy needs.

The world needs Oil & Gas to survive, Canadians need it to survive, there is nothing short of Nuclear that could replace it. Heard this morning that Germany has spent $550 Billion Euro on Wind & Solar over decades, and it's still reliant on Oil & Gas from Russia. WE HAVE what the world needs to survive, let's not follow failed energy policies like Germany & Ontario's that have driven up massive debt, and now subsidized power bills by taxpayers! Lunacy! This subsidy to power bills is NOW being proposed by Rachel Notley that caused Alberta's killer power bills! She knocked off our cheap coal power, spent billions on wind and solar. As below please see generation right now. ets.aeso.ca shows us right now coal is generating flat out, over 100% capacity, wind barely a 1/3, solar 1/2 capacity. This is a good day I've seen days at zero MW from wind. We are now buying coal generated power from Montana. We used to sell power everyday to our neighbors, pre-Notley, now we buy hundreds of MW's daily from our neighbors. Last summer & this winter Alberta issued warnings for Albertans not to charge EV's, and turn off A/C units if able. Our grid is strained due to BAD POLICY by the NDP, and Federally the Liberals. We better wake up soon.

Western Canadians will never forget that, although it proved to be just another of his countless lies, he used the (non-existent) potential for a relative handful of job losses at SNC as his excuse for breaking the law, insisting that "This government will ALWAYS stand up for Canadian jobs".
