Search for Missing Chopper in Brazil Intensifies
A Robinson R-44 helicopter, registration PR-HDB owned by CBA Investimentos LTDA, is currently missing in the Serra do Mar region of S?o Paulo, Brazil. The helicopter, with a total of four occupants including the pilot, disappeared while flying from S?o Paulo-Campo de Marte Airport to Ilhabela, SP. Authorities were alerted to a potential crash late on December 31st, 2023, initiating a search operation. The last known communication from the aircraft was at 15:10 after departing at 13:15. A330neo Fumes Incident, Pan-Pan
Delta Air Lines flight DL-113, an Airbus A330-941, diverted to Shannon Airport, Ireland, after fumes in the cabin reportedly affected passengers' well-being. The nearly new aircraft, traveling from Rome to Boston, declared a 'Pan-pan' emergency while 230 kilometers south of Ireland, indicating urgency but not immediate danger. Upon safe landing, fire and rescue teams inspected the aircraft's undercarriage for overheating while passengers and crew were evacuated and assessed by paramedics. The incident, which led to the flight's cancellation, is under further investigation to identify the source of the fumes, initially suspected to be from one of the aircraft's galley areas. Daytona Chopper vs. Drone Collision
On 30th December 2023, a Robinson R44 helicopter operated by Leading Edge Helicopters, registered under N828AK, collided with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone near Daytona Beach International Airport, Florida, USA during a sightseeing trip. The drone, operated for construction video recording at about 180 feet, was destroyed upon impact with the helicopter's main rotors, causing estimated damages of $60,000; however, the helicopter managed a safe return landing. The incident, under investigation by FAA and NTSB, emphasizes the urgent need for drone operators to adhere to the Know Before You Fly campaign to prevent such occurrences.
