Choosing to tend and befriend
Given the intensity of people’s lives these days, the fatigue that many of us feel, the climate catastrophes that lead the days’ daily news, we have been witnessing people at Coralus create a respite from the onslaught.
Folks have hosted gatherings in a kaleidoscope of formats — from casual coffee meet-ups in Ottawa, Stratford,?Brisbane, Edmonton, and Los Angeles, to organized lunches in Vancouver and Auckland, to in-person workshops in Perth, and?to online webinars where participants tune in from around the world.
Big thank you to the folks who have been stepping in to host these events: Faryn Jacobs, Emm Gryner, Simone Givney, Melanie Love, Charlene Ho, Adena Smith, Michelle Ng, Mika Leah, Carol Vale, Kate Raynes-Goldie, and more.
Whether you prefer an intimate setting of a cozy cafe, or the bustling energy of larger events, the main goal here is to find the others to support us on our journey.? Only in community can we remember we are not alone, get feedback on how amazing we are, and bear witness to one another’s gifts that help ease our journey.?
We often heard during COVID “I wasn’t going to come on this call and I’m so glad I did”. I forget how good I feel afterwards. This is your reminder to reach out, to disrupt the “fight or flight” cocoon response to all the craziness around us and to choose to tend and befriend instead.
