Where does your audience hang out?? It starts with understanding who your audience truly is.? When you offer a service to a specific group of people, that helps you to understand this vital topic, but it isn’t the whole answer. What are these people really looking for?? It may be a physical need, or it may be a feeling.? Maybe they are looking to you to supply knowledge. It could be they want to connect with you for collaboration purposes.? Or it may be some of each of these.
?
The thing is to figure out which of these is the best connection for you to reach your goals, and to set up your content based on that type of interaction.? You can post valuable information, ask questions, engage your audience in ways that make them interested and that give you valuable information about what you can do for them.
?
Do you really love video? It’s a great tool, and it’s simple to connect with people because they feel like they know you when they look into your eyes from their screen.
?
Some people don’t feel comfortable on camera, though, and it’s better for them to stick with written materials, although a combination of written posts and video is the best.? Your audience has different learning styles, and so you can connect with them from different angles.?

So, what platforms are right for you? Each of the platforms has a specific tone. The way people present information is tailored to that way of speaking.? Some people will only post on one platform, because they know that is exactly where their people hang out.? But for most businesses, having more than one place to show up is a good strategy. Two or three platforms will usually be enough, unless you have a huge company with a variety of offers.
?
For my business, LinkedIn is a great platform, since I offer services directly to businesses.? I also work one on one with authors, and I have gotten some great clients based on my LinkedIn presence, so I like being visible by posting regularly.?
?
But not everybody I want to reach is a regular LinkedIn user. I put the exact same content on my Facebook page, since some of my audience will be more likely to see it there.
?
If your audience is looking for physical products you may find that Facebook is more effective, or perhaps TikTok or Instagram is where your people congregate.? It comes down to listening to what people are looking for and finding ways to let them know that you have the answers they are seeking.
