You have to be choosy!! Not a tough job, choosing the correct mix-n-match is important, though.
Pick the color scheme wisely. Always make a habit of developing the color scheme first and then the concept.
Set the primary colors, yeah! you need to grab those from the logo, the client has provided to you. Very basic step!
Set the no. of color combinations for the type of website you are developing. Identify what type of business the website belongs to [ software, healthcare, govt. organizations, education, technology, etc], and the style of the website to be designed. Serious, Corporate, Fun, funky, minimal, startup, etc?
Everyone has their own individual identity, and style statement! So do the websites!! ??
Once the basic /primary colors are set, go for the next step! Set the secondary colors. Secondary colors normally can be used for CTAs [Call-to-action], banner ads, and hyperlinks.
Hmmm! I know what your next question is. Where would the primary colors go? well, primary colors can be used in main areas like, important CTA buttons, navigation, main banner, background colors, footers, etc.
Let’s move forward… now as we have the primary and secondary colors set… create color variations of each color starting from light to dark, so that you have the choice of selecting the best color to match the concept(s) and this would help in providing color variations of the concept too.
You can also take inspiration from various color scheme websites available on the internet.
Happy designing!
