Choosing little moments of pause

“Rather than going for the high moment of drama, the high moment of the erotic, the high moment of the extraordinary, poetry will choose the small moment of pause just to look at what’s really happening, to look at a few layers deep and to let that small pause, that ordinary moment, open up with all the fullness of its being to us.”
+ Pádraig ó Tuama, in The Summer of The Pause Newsletter from On Being

Poetry can reset our lens, the way we see the world.

Yet we don’t have to wait for another’s words to do this for us.

We can choose our own small moments to inhabit and bring to life in our being.

Just by pausing to notice.

Fun

So happy that your noticing was to the thistle, Sue Heatherington. My reflection rolling into your post was that "this is why we don't allow artichokes to flower - we would never cut them for eating if we took in how beautiful they are." So I enjoy that wild and inedible chokes grow where I walk in the SF Baylands.

I have a lot of new garden watering to do today Sue Heatherington. It might take me upwards of 4 hours. I'm preparing myself to get to do this, instead of have to do this *&* pause along the way to discover what Nature is offering up.
