Marketers are collaborating with influencers in a variety of ways, from brand ambassadors to themed or hashtag campaigns, integrated campaigns, and product collaborations.
When it comes to hiring an influencer, 54% of marketers polled believe that the number of followers the influencer has is extremely important. The influencer fitting a specific aesthetic is also important, as stated by 54% of respondents.
Engagement is also important, and the survey indicates that more marketers are opting to work with mid-tier influencers who have more targeted and engaged audiences.
Meanwhile, when considering an influencer, nearly half (47%) of marketers place a high value on competitive rates. Nearly four in ten (41%) believe their company overpays influencers. Approximately half (49%) of this group says their biggest challenge is achieving a clear ROI or promised results.
While a sizable proportion of marketers believe they are overpaying for influencers, respondents overall are pleased with their influencer budgets. 65% intend to increase their influencer marketing spend in the next six months, while 60% intend to increase their digital marketing spend (60%) and, in particular, their overall marketing spend (45%).
Perhaps this is due to widespread agreement that these efforts are successful. Almost everyone (98%) is pleased with their companies' influencer marketing efforts. Previous research has also revealed that marketers believe influencer collaborations work most of the time or all of the time.
