Choosing Happiness

Choosing Happiness

Are you choosing happiness? Get into the New Year with A New Mind Frame

We all probably felt very different than we thought we would have. Fortunately, this year is almost over. However, it doesn't mean that struggles and challenges will stop. We can all hope that this coronavirus pandemic will finally be history, but we can't guarantee that something very similar won't come again in our lifetime.

What have you been doing to maintain positivity in your life? My discussion on this blog is choosing happiness. You might be rolling your eyes and thinking, "easier said than done." Surprisingly, it's actually easier than you think.

It's about seeing the brighter side of everything that happens for us and not to us. I've heard that many times by famous Ed Mylett. For those who don't know Ed, I encourage you to listen to him. He's an amazing man who does a lot of interviews with people in the space of personal development and how we can attribute it to something very basic in our brain.

Thinking About What You Think About

Do you think about what you think about? Or do you react? Do you react and think, "this is what the world is giving me and I'm just going to have to react" or do you think about what it is that you're thinking about?

During one of Ed Mylett’s interviews, he was talking about what things happen to us and how it creates scenarios in our head. I really took away the fact that what we think about is something we can control.

Do you consciously choose not to be happy?

In a situation that maybe most would find sadness or anger, would you find happiness? Can you see the silver lining in any situation? I've been blessed in a sense not to have endured anything so traumatic, but even if you can just count the small challenges daily. Look at each of those small challenges and look at what you're thinking about these challenges. Think about how you're going to choose to feel versus just reacting.

The Cycle of Unhappiness

Our feelings control our thoughts; our thoughts control our actions, and our actions have consequences. It goes around and around. If we have consequences that are not favorable, it creates more negative thoughts or feelings. Then that creates negative actions that are not necessarily favorable and then results that are not so favorable.

I would encourage you to take a look at your 2022 and look at all the different things that had happened for you, not to you. Because if it happened for you, you've taken something useful away from it. Look at your life that way going forward so that in 2023, 2024 or any of the years that follow us something else that comes up, whether it's corona or another thing, we can get through it and help each other.?
