Choose Wisely.

Choose Wisely.

Have you ever stopped to think about the audacity our goals demand from us? Setting ambitious goals often means embarking on a different path, choosing a life different from the one we know. But today, I want to talk about something equally important: the people who accompany us on this journey.

I learned a lesson from my dear friend Ugo during a shopping trip for my new outfit. She told me this story about the significance of surrounding yourself with friends on the same frequency as yours. Imagine a situation where a fit person hikes with someone less fit; their experiences differ due to their different realities, and they might not be able to move at the same pace. This made me realize how essential it is to have a diverse group of friends, not only for balance but also to keep ourselves in check.

While self-love and acceptance are crucial, we must be wary of leaning far towards complacency. It's vital to avoid being coddled throughout our relationships, as it can hinder growth. I experienced this firsthand when I arrived late at the gym and ended up joining a group with the actual instructors, Randy and Chima. These professionals spend more time working out than the rest of us. Being in their group taught me a valuable lesson. Knowing I was with the pros pushed me to demand more from my body and willpower. Surprisingly, I recovered faster and performed better than I expected. Here's what stood out for me from this experience, I never went back to lifting less or doing my sets slowly ever.

The truth is, we need a variety of friends in our lives. Some will help us appreciate our growth, some will inspire us to aim higher, and others will hold us accountable. Occasionally, it's essential to switch up our circle of friends to avoid getting too comfortable or complacent.

I hope these stories resonate with you and serve as a reminder of the significance of the people we surround ourselves with. Each friend brings something unique to our lives, and a diverse group can enrich our journey of growth and self-discovery.

Remember, the company you keep can make all the difference.
