Choose Substance Over Clickbait

Choose Substance Over Clickbait

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. If that’s true, then Ansys should be extremely flattered, because competitors have been trying to copy our industry-leading solutions, including Ansys HFSS, for years.?

Of course, they haven’t succeeded. Today Ansys still delivers a powerful, robust and comprehensive solution for optimizing the design of electronics, from chip to the system level. No other solution has the end-to-end capabilities with proven results gained over thousands of customer designs.?

It must be frustrating to be second-, third- or fourth-best, but I was surprised to see that some of our competitors are so desperate for attention that they’ve resulted to using “clickbait” in their recent marketing campaigns.?

You know what click bait is, right? You’re checking the news during a work break, and you see an ad that says “Whatever Happened to the Cast of Gilligan’s Island”? or "Whatever happened to the cast of Seinfeld?" For a minute you think, “Yes, what did happen to Kramer?” And you start clicking through a bunch of trashy ads, wasting time instead of getting back to work. And you never find out what exactly happened to Kramer, because at some point you realize it’s just not worth it. There’s no substance. You’ve fallen for a cheap marketing gimmick.

This is the tactic that our competitors are using. In a business setting. Instead of making fact-based statements about their own products or capabilities, they’re creating ridiculous headlines ― just to get you to click through a bunch of superficial marketing content that has no relationship to the original “bait” you clicked on.

With product quality and engineering rigor on the line, this is not how anyone should be starting a discussion or engaging with potential customers. It’s cheap and it’s demeaning. It shows a lack of integrity. And, if you can’t trust a company’s foundational integrity, how can you trust them with the signal, power, and thermal integrity of your designs??
